AMA with Dmitry Gerasimov, May 22, 2025

7 min readMay 26, 2025

Hello everyone! I’m Dmitry Gerasimov, CEO of the Cellframe Network, and here is our regular AMA session. Let’s begin from the questions that you have sent us!

How is the work on the two-level sharding progressing?

We are over the key stage of this work. So, the shard forking is almost ready. We are finishing its polishing and debugging, and when we are over the remaining part, it’s the most complicated thing that we have to overcome in the two-level sharding. The next thing will be more organizational than algorithmic. For example, we need to automate the process of shard forking itself, and we need to add.

All the distribution between sharding, assigning, and the assigning function. And that’s all. That’s ready. So, we are on the final stretch with two-level sharding. The most complicated thing is also on the final stretch — even closer than the total project.

What is the current progress on implementing shard-forking — the process of splitting overloaded cells?

It’s ready, it’s written. But it still has some bugs, and we are fixing them. When it’s ready, the first shard forking will happen with a zero shard on the Backbone, and we’ll go further.

When is the planned release of the Cellframe Wallet mobile app for iOS?

It’s coming — the first build of the Cellframe Wallet mobile app for iOS was completed just yesterday. The application was successfully compiled from the same codebase we use for the Android version. So it will be the same application. We’ve already registered the name in the App Store, so you should see it there within a week or two. It’s almost done.

Do you plan to implement full staking functionality in the mobile version of Cellframe Wallet?

Yes, it will have the full functionality, all the same features. Just remember, Cellframe Wallet at the current moment is still a release candidate; it’s not the final version, not the production version. The production version will come when all functionality becomes available on all platforms.

How is the development of the web version of Cellframe Wallet coming along?

Better to ask the QEVM team — they’re responsible for the web wallet. We don’t have a web version of Cellframe Wallet; it’s only a binary application for all platforms. But it’s not a web version itself.

Earlier this year, the team announced the launch of LP tokens on the Cellframe platform (CF-01 standard). How is the work on this feature progressing?

Unfortunately, we postponed this feature because of many issues with the current stable versions of the Node. The Node itself became stable, but we still have problems with the wallet, and some issues with staking. Right now, we’re more focused on fixing these problems.

Some features had to be postponed, unfortunately. But I believe the latest progress in web development and AI-driven coding will help us deliver everything we need faster than we initially expected.

Will CFScan replace Cellframe Explorer in the future?

Yes, it’s a replacement — just like Cellframe Wallet is going to replace Cellframe Dashboard. So, Cellframe Explorer, along with Cellframe Dashboard, is now obsolete. CFScan is coming.

Share some updates on Cellframe’s hardware nodes.

It’s ready, it works, it’s packing for delivery right now.

Is a hardware node automatically configured in both local and remote modes of Cellframe Wallet?

It’s not automatically configured — you’ll need to open its configuration files and enable JSON-RPC API access not just for local connections, but for remote connections as well.

Will there be testing for integrating new hardware nodes with the current Cellframe infrastructure?

We do it, and it works well.

How are Cellframe’s hardware nodes easier to set up compared to nodes in other blockchain networks?

Generally the same.

Who is the Cellframe platform best suited for crypto beginners, professionals, or both?

What really matters is your enthusiasm. If you’re not enthusiastic, if you’re not truly interested — there’s a risk of negative user experience. And then it doesn’t matter whether you’re a beginner or a professional.

I’ve seen complete beginners, people for whom Cellframe was their first crypto experience, using it effortlessly and with pleasure. At the same time, I know professionals who’ve faced so many issues they still don’t use Cellframe today. The reality is, while most users don’t encounter these problems, some unfortunately do.

So it doesn’t depend on whether you’re a beginner or professional — it depends on your desires

Will the combination of post-quantum cryptography, two-level sharding, and EVM compatibility being implemented by the Cellframe team help surpass Solana and QANX in speed and security?

The EVM compatibility is not being developed by us, but by the QEVM team. As for the combination of post-quantum cryptography and two-level sharding, I think they will surpass everyone, for sure.

After participating in Blockchain Forum 2025, have you gained new partners or potential ecosystem projects that utilize Cellframe’s technology?

Yes, we have some exciting leads and new partnerships. One major collaboration will be announced next week — I believe in the beginning of the week — and I can share a little preview about these upcoming announcements. It involves a blockchain-driven messenger that will utilize Cellframe technology. They’ll implement our cryptography first, and potentially join our ecosystem later. So stay tuned!

What is the Cellframe team currently focused on?

Our primary focus right now is on stability — improving system stability, enhancing user experience, and delivering on all our promised commitments.

The launch of the QEVM’s own network is coming soon. What launches are next in line?

I think Node.sys network will be next.

Share the KelVPN team’s plans for project development.

The upcoming 8.0 release will mark a major transition — switching our VPN service providers from testnet to mainnet. This milestone will enable native economics, allowing users to pay for VPN services directly on mainnet. These are our immediate development priorities.

Could you comment on the KelVPN liquidity migration? How is this process progressing?

The liquidity has been migrated, but we’re facing an issue with additional liquidity arriving from various trading bots. The problem is we no longer have access to the old liquidity keys, despite completing partial migration.

For users wanting to buy or sell KEL: liquidity is currently available on Uniswap.

Regarding the transition from the old ERC20 contract to KelVPN v2 — we’ve only migrated about half so far, and trading is still occurring on the old contract. Honestly, we won’t be able to complete this by the 10th as planned. The old liquidity can’t be fully removed since we lack access. It appears this may remain permanently.

Our solution was to rug-pull the old tokens and allocate that amount to the new token — that’s how we moved half. We could theoretically continue migrating half of the remaining half repeatedly, but that doesn’t seem practical.

Instead, we’ll proceed with the promised airdrops, close the bridge, and that will complete the process. Any remaining old tokens can simply be sold — consider it a bonus. This process is currently underway and should be finalized today.

Information about the KEL ERC20 v2 price has disappeared from KelVPN’s CoinGecko page. When will it be available again?

We are working on this. It’s up to CoinGecko.

When, in your opinion, will Q-Day arrive?

The nearest few years, I believe.

What percentage remains to complete the dual sharing?

There’s approximately 11–12% remaining, roughly that amount.

Is any global event coming?

Yes! The Cellframe auctions relaunch in June. It’s the most global event that is coming!

How does Cellframe dual-layer sharing architecture incorporate quantum-resistant hash functions — like those being explored with Chipmunk — to secure data integrity and prevent quantum-based shard manipulation?

About Chipmunk, it’s a really interesting question. Unfortunately, it’s a long explanation. For now, just know the sharing architecture at this stage doesn’t involve Chipmunk. However, initially to compress some cross-shard communication, we might use Chipmunk

Will there be a time when quantum will actually hit all sectors?

Yes, I believe.

When will you release the Cellverse engine?

The Cellverse engine has been postponed for future development. However, with recent advances in AI-driven development, we may see progress sooner than expected — potentially within the next few years.

Any airdrops?

Airdrops are only for the holders of V1 KEL tokens.

Is any new project lined up?

The metaverse was originally our concept, but we chose to pause development. However, at the recent TOKEN2049 Dubai conference, we observed a significant resurgence of metaverse projects. This has us reconsidering — we may revive development in the future. That said, not this year, and likely not next year either. Realistically, we’re looking at about two years out. For now, consider this initiative postponed long-term.

What’s your plan to move from a mini marketcap project to a big project?

We need to onboard as many projects as possible and demonstrate that this framework can attract more funding to the Backbone. There are also other ideas in progress — like relaunching the Cellframe DEX after refactoring, among other initiatives.

That’s all the questions for now. Thank you for your attention and time! We are CELL we are here. Goodbye, and see you next time!
